Our Story

You want to live a fulfilling life, but sometimes you’re not sure what that even means.

You are tired of being dissatisfied with your life, battling the constantly nagging feeling that something is missing.

You want to revamp the relationship you have with yourself, as well as with the world around you.

You’re tired of just floating through your life, focusing on pleasing the expectations of others, all the while never unearthing what you truly desire at your core.

You want to connect with like-minded young women, who you can comfortably share your doubts, struggles, and honest thoughts with, with no judgement or assumptions allowed.

You want to live a life of purpose and fulfillment, and Witted Roots is here to support you.

I created Witted Roots as a space for witty, creative millennial women of color who are ready to navigate their mental and emotional wellness in a raw, honest, and no-holds-barred manner.

With the tools, resources, and information necessary to dig deeper into the roots that form their foundation, you are constantly reminded that you are not alone in your experiences.

We help you to address the many intersecting aspects of mental and emotional health (including anxiety, panic, stress, fear, and self-doubt), teaching you the basics on mental and emotional health, with a heavy dose of down-to-earth reality all stirred in.

We’re here to inspire, but also support you along your journey of figuring out what a meaningful, joyful life means for you. From workbooks, to workshops, to wellness retreats, our community is growing steadily.

We will help you to ask yourself the tough questions (with answers that you’ve probably had buried under layers of dented steel.), but we’re also here to do the beautiful, ugly, and hilarious LaughCry with you.

We’re here to let you know that the same intertwined roots that come together to make you the person that you are today, can be the same foundation that you use to go forward in the pursuit of living, being, and basking in the glow of your best Self.

Think of your lowest point, and I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be lying if I told you that I’ve been there (and then some!).

My personal story of disempowerment is long and winding. While I continue to rumble, reckon, and otherwise come face to face with my own deeply rooted realities, it propels me forward in my mission to combine my passion + purpose to create safe spaces for witty, creative millennial women of color.

Witted Roots is the safe space that I always needed, but was never sure where to find. I needed a space where I could share my knowledge about mental and emotional wellness, while helping other young Jamaican women to learn how to become better acquainted with themselves.

I wanted to make sure that less young, loving, well-meaning young women feel stuck about their next best step, and that a support system is available for when you need to have a quick, but necessary, reflection.

We’re all about raw honesty, and one lesson that I’ve learnt is that this begins with the Self. I have gone through (and still going through) my own SelfWork. This encompasses significant amounts of self-reflection, digging up the many roots of my foundation (some not so nice, others I was never consciously aware of).

It takes a lot to shift your perspective on yourself, and I’m here to be the catalyst for change.

SelfWork is hard, but we’re going to do it anyway. Together.
